Where We Have Been & Where We Are Going
Hi, friend! It has been a while- about a year, and a lot has changed for everyone. Here at Bow & Sprig, we are so excited to be back with more prints and new products. But, not only are we coming back with new items, we are coming back with a firmer footing on who we are as a company, and where we want to go.
When we first launched back in Fall 2019, we knew we wanted to create a better jewelry stand. We saw an opportunity, and we let that inspiration guide us. With the early support and interest in our Signature Jewelry Stand, it let us see beyond our initial goal and really embrace our potential. With this new perspective, we started thinking about other everyday items that have been “good enough” for too long. Then March 2020 happened.
Suddenly, everything was closed, including our warehouse to non-employees. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but we had some production issues, as is normal for any startup. Because of this, we would go into the warehouse three days a week to personally inspect every stand that was being shipped. When this option was no longer available, we did not feel comfortable continuing to sell our stands. With our vision of long-term success, the idea of potentially sending out product that was not to our standards was not an option. After much thought and consideration, we knew the only thing we could do was close temporarily.
But, as with any lemon, there is potential for a delicious glass of lemonade. With the newfound grace of time, we were able to find a new production partner that took our already wonderful stand and helped us make it even better! The metal rods are now stainless steel, the drawers have a smoother glide, and the fabric application on our jewelry stands is flawless!
With such an amazing new production resource, we decided to expand our products to tissue box covers and catchall trays. We landed on these two items because they have always struck us as consistently underwhelming. Probably because their purpose is so simple, the need for improvement has been overlooked. We wanted to give these everyday home items the Bow & Sprig upgrade, and we could not be more happy with the result! We will dedicate a whole blog to why our tissue box cover is so perfect and why our tray can actually go everywhere soon, but for now, click here to see for yourself!
Another blessing we got from closing temporarily, we were able to spend more time with our family. While we were brokenhearted to close so soon after launching, we found joy and gratitude in being with our children and giving them a safe space to process such a scary time. There was more time to focus on what makes them happy- doing crafts, playing in the mud, reading stories, and having movie nights. The extra time we got with our little loves and the memories we created made our broken hearts full.
We also know most families did not have the option for a modified workload. This past year, people have been stretched far beyond reason. Trying to raise children, work, keep up the house- all while doing their best to stay safe and keep healthy. It has been hard for everyone, but if you find yourself in the position to be able to donate, even a little, we would like to recommend donating to The Family Place. The Family Place is a women and children's shelter here in Dallas that empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that build toward an independent life.
It has been a very long year for so many reasons. We sincerely encourage you to remember yourself in the chaos that is life right now, hug your loved ones, and give grace to those around you.
Thank you for follow along as we build this company with joy in our hearts and determination in our boots.
